Based in Farnham, Surrey, Derry Walker is an experienced furniture restorer and conservator with more than 35 years’ experience working with museums, private collectors, dealers and clients across the UK and internationally.

Derry’s passion for woodwork began at the age of 16, inspired by his father, a traditional boat builder. After completing his City & Guilds qualification, he continued his training in furniture restoration under Bruce Luckhurst before beginning his professional career in London. His experience includes positions with Sotheby’s, Arlington Conservation and Apter Fredericks.

Derry spent four years in Bermuda, working on some of the island’s most important pieces of furniture, before returning to London and joining Arlington Conservation for a further decade. He subsequently spent eight years at Apter Fredericks, where he managed the workshop and was responsible for all cabinet work.

In 2021, Derry established his own workshop in Farnham. Every piece entrusted to the workshop is personally restored or conserved by Derry, ensuring his experience, judgement and craftsmanship are applied at every stage.

With a reputation built over more than three decades, Derry undertakes commissions for museums, private collectors, dealers and clients in Surrey, London, across the UK and internationally. He also regularly shares his expertise through lectures to the Southern Fellowship of Woodworkers and is a committee member of the Institute of Conservation (ICON).
