Derry Walker offers a comprehensive service covering all aspects of restoration, including cabinet work, finishing, upholstery, metalwork, gilding and lacquer work.

Over the years, Derry has acquired a substantial stock of period timber, which enables repairs to be carefully matched to the original wood. Repairs are traditionally finished wherever possible, helping to preserve the patina and character of each piece. Period glass and mirrors can also be sourced and fitted where required.

Old locks can be refurbished, period keys cut and replacement locks made. Missing or damaged hardware can be repaired, while new pieces can be cast and carefully matched to the originals.

Gilding, lacquerwork and traditional upholstery can also be provided as part of the restoration service.

For certain aspects of a restoration, Derry works with highly skilled craftspeople with whom he has established long-standing relationships. This allows him to draw on specialist expertise where required, while remaining the main point of contact throughout the project. The integrity of each piece is paramount, and all work is undertaken with this in mind.

Derry can provide detailed condition reports and restoration proposals before work begins, along with photographic records to document the condition and progress of each piece.

A complete service from collection through to delivery is offered, with regular communication and updates throughout the process.
